Proceedural texture displacements not rendering

I have noticed that if you plug in a fractal or a procedural texture with a fractal component in it, into the displacement node the render region has problems rendering the displacement, if you play around with the parameters of the fractal it will render, but as soon as you move the render region the displacement goes wrong. I have tried with version 12, 13 and 14. All is well with a displacement based on a texture map.

Re: Proceedural texture displacements not rendering

Do you have error about bad displacement bounds in the log window ?

Re: Proceedural texture displacements not rendering

No, there are no errors, it only happens with fractal type procedurals, when you increase or decrease the complexity then it renders the way it should, but as soon as you move to another frame or move the render region the refreshed render just contains a bloated displacement without details. The Rock procedural works fine though, it is only broken with fractals, Mental ray has no problems at all.

Re: Proceedural texture displacements not rendering

What I have found is that when it renders the fractal correctly, (after changing the fractal complexity setting), the INFO in the Script editor give this:
' INFO : 3Delight: R2093: object 'sphere' (displacement 'DefaultLib_Material_displacement', surface 'DefaultLib_Material_surface') used only 50% of its displacement bound

and when it renders incorrectly, (after moving the Render Region), the INFO is:
' INFO : 3Delight: R2093: object 'sphere' (displacement 'DefaultLib_Material_displacement', surface 'DefaultLib_Material_surface') used only 25% of its displacement bound

This is all I have!

Re: Proceedural texture displacements not rendering

Just found that its not only not rendering when plugged into the displacement, but also it behaves the same if you plug the Fractal into the Diffuse, Transparency or any of the other inputs and its the same with all the Shaders (Phong, Blinn, Lambert, Car paint etc).

Re: Proceedural texture displacements not rendering

I've tracked it down to the "Complexity" attribute of the Fractal component of the:
Fractal
Vein
Marble

Other procedurals work fine:
Snow
Terrain
Ripple
Rock

Hope this helps,

Re: Proceedural texture displacements not rendering

Hello aghiles,

I see this issue is still present in the latest build of 3delight for Maya (6.0.6).

(Procedurals are still processed incorrectly)

Would you kindly give us an estimate on when you're planning to fix the problem?

Thank you in advance.
