Incorrect shadows through transparent shader

Hi Guys,
I am new to 3delight and am having problems getting the correct shadows through a simple lambert shaded plane using a texture with alpha.

My simple scene contains a spotlight, the plane with transparent shader, and a ground plane. Spotlight is using depth map shadows, and under the shadow maps section for my render pass I have the use surface shaders in shadows flagged ON.  The light is associated to a light attributes node, with generate shadow maps flagged on, and shadow map type set to "deep".

My shadows are not taking into account the alpha of the texture, and instead give me the shadow of the plane.  Can anyone tell me how to fix this??

Thanks!

Re: Incorrect shadows through transparent shader

If you want to use shadow maps along with transparency, you have to enable deep shadow maps. So, attacha light attribute to your light and enable deep shadow maps.

Tell us how it goes,

Re: Incorrect shadows through transparent shader

Thanks for your help aghiles!

I already have a light attribute node attached to my spotlight with the shadowmap type set to "Deep", The shadows are still incorrect. Is there anything else you can think of that I need to be doing??

Re: Incorrect shadows through transparent shader

Try assign "Visibility" attributes to that plane and play around with the "Diffuse Rays" settings. I'm pretty sure it's one of them.

Re: Incorrect shadows through transparent shader

Thanks guys for your help- got it sorted now and it's working perfectly!
It was working all along, but my output display was rendering to an I-view window which was offscreen. Being the rookie that I am I was only checking the maya render view.
Thanks again for your help!
